Biography
INTERNATIONAL RIGHTS AGENT AT LA JOIE DE LIRE.
In 1937, Paul Robert founded the La Joie de Lire (the joy of reading) bookshop in Geneva and one of the first to specialise in literature for the young people of Europe. Francine Bouchet took over managing the bookshop in 1981, organised different activities for children and launched the children’s prize in 1987. In that same year, she founded La Joie de Lire publishers. In 1991, the bookshop closed to focus on the publishing activity.
Carina Diez Solari was born in Geneva (Switzerland) and graduated from the Faculty of Literature at Geneva University. Since 1996, Carina has worked for La Joie de Lire publishing house in Geneva, which celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2017. Her work is divided between managing foreign rights (buying and selling), searching for subsidies and the publishing working. She is also a member of the publisher’s reading committee and manages the contracts with authors, illustrators and translators.
